Hello Miranda,

Thank you for your candid feedback. I appreciate you taking the time to provide it. I am sorry that your experience here was less than you expected. We do take your concerns seriously and use your comments to improve the experience for future guests.

I sincerely apologize for your feeling of being rushed. You arrived while I was in the middle of a tour with another group and in my effort to accommodate both groups; I asked the first group if they would be willing to wait and have you join us for a larger tour. In retrospect, I should have allowed your group the time you needed to get yourselves situated while I finished the tour with the first group. I will keep this in mind for future situations.

From time to time, we have clients who enquire about public washrooms. As in your situation, we address these occasions by allowing the use of our personal facilities. This of course presents a myriad of potential issues. Over the course of the off-season we will be looking at various options to address this situation going forward.

Finally, as a livestock farming operation, we do not offer a petting zoo experience; rather our tours are designed to be interactive and educational. Inherently, this makes them less than optimal for children under the age of 5. However, we do encourage families with young children to visit so attempt to modify our tours to engage with even the littlest ones. That’s where inviting toddlers to assist with “bath time” and offering the free finger puppets comes in. We will look at other ways where we can engage with our younger visitors while still ensuring the safety of all involved.

Thank you again for providing your feedback Miranda. We try really hard to make everyone’s visit to our farm enjoyable and when we fail to do so we attempt to make it right. I do hope you will give us another opportunity to provide you an enjoyable experience. To assist in this regard, I would like to extend to you and your group a free tour. I can be reached at 902-303-0647 to arrange a suitable time.

Kindest regards,

Green Gable Alpacas

We did not have an enjoyable experience at the farm. We arrived with 5 children, 2 of which were babies, needing diaper changes and situated in their carriers and 2 of the other kids (ages 2 & 3) needed the bathroom which they had to use the one inside the house and we were made to feel like it was an inconvenience to the lady, but there was no public washroom for them to use. While getting the kids situated the dog pees twice on the the tire of the vehicle while the lady is rushing us along and starts the tour before our entire group was even ready. She wasn't overly friendly with our children and we felt it wasn't a very exciting time for them as compared to island hill farms that we visit quite often and have a much better experience. Would not recommend one of these tours to families with young children.

Our visit for Green Gable Alpacas was a lovely, relaxed experience. We were greeted in the driveway by energetic Otis. Janet told us her story of how she decided to move to PEI and create a beautiful home for alpacas. I loved hearing a description of some of the alpacas and their interesting characters. It was also a highly entertaining experience to feed Grizwald (the care-taker llama) apples. The insoles and soft mitts I bought in the store keep my feet and hands so warm. Thank you so much, Janet! This was well-worth the beautiful drive. Highly recommended. (We actually visited August 2013, and have fond memories of the day. We hope to visit again soon.)
